MEAL: Update from the House
Hear an update from Representative Daniela Garcia.
State Rep. Daniela García was first elected to serve the 90th District in the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2014. The 90th District encompasses parts of Ottawa County, including the cities of Holland, Hudsonville and Zeeland, and the townships of Holland, Jamestown and Zeeland.
García is vice chair of the committee on Education and is a member of the committees on Commerce and Trade, Health Policy and Regulatory Reform.
Before taking office, Rep. García built up an impressive 10 years of public policy work at the federal and state levels. As an advisor to former U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra, she assisted with the development of policy relating to K-12 and higher education as well as health care issues. García also worked for the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce as advisor to the chairman, working to reform the federal No Child Left Behind program. Most recently, she was employed by Spectrum Health, a not-for-profit health care system serving the West Michigan community.
