Event Description:
The public is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 28, to celebrate the completed renovation of restrooms at Hughes Park in Hudsonville. The park is located at the corner of Van Buren Street and 40th Avenue.

The project was a renovation of an existing park facility within Hughes Park that was beyond its life expectancy, according to city officials. The bathroom facility was originally constructed in 1967 and was reconstructed following a ceiling collapse in 1980. The facility lacked modern features such as hot water, bathroom stall doors, and universally accessible facilities, but was fully upgraded to be Universally Accessible, among other improvements.

Improvements included reconfiguring the orientation of the restrooms, adding a unisex single-toilet room, including accessible units, upgrading the water service to include hot water, including environmentally sustainable features like low flush toilets, and updating the building facade.
