SUMMARY:MEAL: Overcoming Barriers
DESCRIPTION:Meet\, Eat\, and Learn Series Presented by \n\n\n\nAt this MEALwe're going to hear about a regional initiative to support housing development at a variety of price points in our own communities. \n\n\n\nFor decades\, most of us have thought about housing affordability as a social policy. In recent years housing has become a critical economic development policy for growing communities across the country. The Grand Rapids metro area and Ottawa County specifically has been one of the fastest growing counties in the State for well over a decade. Yet\, our local supply of housing is not keeping pace with demand and it has become increasingly difficult for employers to access critical talent as a result. Ryan Kilpatrick will talk about the role that Housing Next is playing to ensure more housing can be built and that an adequate supply of housing at all price points is available to our local workforce.
